If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it

  • If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.

Bill Ayers is frequently asked if he thinks his bombing program was wrong. Chris Mathews put this question to him. Ayers points out his bombs did not kill anyone and that it was designed to stop the US from killing 6,000 people a week in Vietnam.

I have no idea where he came up with that number. I suppose he just made it up.  That equals 300,000 people per year that he says were killed by the United States.

Now we killed a lot of communist soldiers. That is part of war - they kill you and you kill them.  But we went to great lengths to avoid killing civilians.  It did happen in MyLai, which was the worst, and several other places. Horrible, and I hate that American servicemen did this.  But the wrongful deaths are in the few 1,000's for the entire war, not 6,000 a month.  Professor Rummel of the University of Hawaii has spent considerable time on this issue.  He estimates that the US wrongfully killed 6,000 people during the war.
